OVERVIEW: One of the most important aspects of recovery for the environmentally ill patient involves the quick and proper diagnosis of the patients’ specific medical problems. Thirty years of treatment experience has emphasized that the patient must be isolated from as many outside environmental factors as possible. As a means of helping the patient eliminate these environmental factors, we offer environmentally safe temporary housing for our patients. Located just five blocks from the clinic, our specially structured living units provide housing, which is supportive of your treatment goals of EHC-D. These units have been designed to eliminate exposure to the obvious sources of offending substances.

Each unit, approximately 550 sq. ft., consists of a one-bedroom suite with a separate living room, kitchenette and full bath.

Amenities include:

  • A clean and updated HVAC system with environmentally correct components utilizing the most effective filtration media

  • Filtered kitchen and shower water

  • Two Austin or AllerMed air purifiers

  • Ceramic tile, non-toxic grout floors and non-toxic paint

  • Organic cotton sheets, towels, mattresses and shower curtains; linens are changed twice a week and rooms are cleaned with non-toxic products twice a week with daily inspections

  • All furniture is made from hardwood or metal

  • Secured EHC-D patient laundry room with high capacity, coin-operated washers and dryers

  • Free transportation to and from EHC-D three times daily with weekly transportation to Whole Foods, Roy’s Nutrition, and Abrams Royal Pharmacy

  • 24-hour security, free cable television and internet access.

Our goal has been to create an aesthetically pleasing and comfortable housing unit using the highest, most advanced standards of indoor air quality. This involves the use of the most basic and natural materials available. (Many patients, who want to create a "safe" less polluted room or construct a home, use many of standards used in our housing unit.)
