Videos about Allergies and Chemical Sensitivities

Allergies Do Alter Activities And Behavior
Doris Rapp, MD, 30 minutes
The video shows several cases where they expose a child to allergens, and then see how the child's demeanor changes dramatically. Parents with children who had ADD and ADHD should see this. Their child need not be on drugs at all.

EPA Poisons EPA: My Sisters Story
Produced by Terese Svoboda, 27 minutes
The Video Project
The EPA moved into a new headquarters in downtown Washington DC, it was very poorly designed and 19 people got permanently sick with chemical sensitivities from the high levels of indoor air pollution. The video tells the story of a senior attorney in the EPA who has become permanently disabled, and shows how her life has been altered. Going out is now a difficult decision, and her family and friends have to 'clean up' before they can visit her. It is a good story, but it moves too fast if the viewer is not familiar with the issues.

Can Buildings Make You Sick?
Produced by WGBH (PBS station), 60 minutes
PBS (Public Broadcasting) broadcast in December 1995 this NOVA program in which they show problems with indoor climate in some buildings in England and the US. The program briefly mentions the problems the EPA had with the carpets in their new building, and then goes on to briefly describe chemical sensitivity in several nurses in a hospital in Boston. Well worth seeing, a good visual introduction into the idea that office buildings can make people sick. The coverage of chemical sensitivity is very sparse, and does not mention the effects of it.

Your House, Your Health
John Bower, The Healthy House Institute, 28 minutes
The video shows John Bower walking through one of his newly built healthy houses and he shows the various features incorporated in the design, such as filtration systems, roofing, flooring and cabinetry. A healthy house can look like any ordinary house, as the video shows. John Bower is also the author of some good books on this subject.
